High Adventure Leader Training (HAT)


 

Who should take: Adult leaders for Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturers, as well older Scouts (14 and above with leader). Also, professionals, and Girl Scout Leaders.

Scheduled Dates: Usually offered in December and again in March

Location: Scout Office

Prerequisites: None

Personal Equipment: Silva-type compass,
pen or pencil and paper

Course Description: This course is designed to Scouting leaders at all levels, the knowledge and skills that will aid them in the planning and execution of fun, safe and rewarding outings. It covers the basic information for all types of outings from a trip to the local park or zoo for Cub Scouts to one-week or longer wilderness outings for older Scouts. Subjects include trip planning, food planning and preparation, health and safety, conservation, map and compass, equipment, dealing with overheating and excessive chilling, HAT Awards and much more.
